Gemini-Gemini was founded in the 1990s based on an idea by Jamaaladeen Tacuma. After Tacuma and Puschnig had collaborated on several projects, they decided to reduce their musical expression to the basic form of a duo and work only with bass and saxophone. After several tours, they decided to add a drummer to expand the energy a little. They played with musicians from Philadelphia, first with Dennis Alston and later with Adam Guth, across Europe, performing various programs of their own compositions and one with compositions by Thelonious Monk. This is documented on three CDs: “Gemini-Gemini,” “The Flavors Of Th.Monk,” and “Journey Into The Gemini Territory.” After many different projects (both individually and together), they were back on the road as a duo a few years later. Now there is a reminiscence of these times together with Reinhardt Winkler on drums, a musician who has also supported them in other ventures. “Gemini-Gemini” stands for the protagonists' zodiac signs, the + for the drummer.
