Portrait Stefan Voglsinger 'JSB Trio'

Stefan Voglsinger: drums
DNA Sequenzen: electronic
Jürgen Berlakovich: guitar, bass

The JSB Trio consists of Jürgen Berlakovich and Stefan Voglsinger. They use software developed by Jürgen Berlakovich that transforms DNA sequences into music. Examples of DNA sequences used include those from green tea, raspberries, peyote, various viruses, or a mammoth. The electronic sounds of DNA merge with drums, bass, and guitar, creating music that moves between jazz, ambient, pop, rock, and noise.

Jürgen Berlakovich is an author, musician and soundartist. He writes, composes and produces novels, essays, film music, radio plays, podcasts, audiocartoons, soundscapes and songs. He uses DNA sonifications and linguistic microparticles in combination with guitar, bass and electronics for compositions and improvisations. He runs the JSB Trio, is an ensemble member of The Vegetable Orchestra and was the co-initiator of the literature and music performance duo Sergej Mohntau. Berlakovich studied german literature and philosophy at the University of Vienna. He developed the concept of Acoustic Poetics and currently teaches it at the ‘sfd-schule für dichtung’ in Vienna and the ‘Escuela de Escritores’ in Madrid. Performances and releases also under J.S. Berlakovich, JSB und Takamovsky.
