Jazz guitarist Peter Bernstein is hailed for his precision, his clear tone and his fluent solo playing. On our stage he has appeared in sold-out shows as a member of the triumphant Hammond organ trio with Larry Goldings and Bill Stewart. In New York he has built an impeccable reputation since he was discovered by Jim Hall, who once said: ‘He is the most impressive guitarist I’ve heard. He plays the best of them all for swing, logic, feel and taste.’

Peter Bernstein played as a sideman with, among others, Sonny Rollins, Diana Krall and Joshua Redman. As a band leader he has a knack for gathering big names from contemporary jazz around him. On his most recent album Better Angels, for example, he plays with superstar Brad Mehldau. In his current band he plays with another American piano master, Sullivan Fortner, who is known for his close collaborations with the likes of Cécile McLorin Salvant, Ben Wendel and Roy Hargrove.

‘Bernstein personalizes every note and makes them glow’ (JazzTimes).

‘Whenever I hear Pete play a standard, he always seems to create a definitive version. He lets each tune speak for itself, treating the melody lovingly while sustaining a unique brand of relaxed rhythmic authority, a clarity of ideas, cleanliness of execution and remarkable sense of pacing’ (Brad Mehldau).
