The project initiated by Halil Gürsu brings together a wide variety of musicians from the professional ethno scene. Their music is a combination of traditional oriental elements, oriental jazz with western influences, folk, jazz, blues, funk, rock, and classical music, which could best be described as ethno fusion. The rhythms and prominent percussion inspire and motivate the listener and also bring Oriental music closer to the Western ear. Traditional instruments such as the saz and vocals are combined with saxophone, guitar, drums or percussion and bass. The distinctive voice of singer Halil Gürsu and his interpretations of old and new folk tunes round off the perfect sound and provide the listener with a very interesting musical experience, which often ends with a halai (community dance) among those present. Born in Istanbul, musician Halil Gürsu studied music and opera singing, which also took him to Vienna in 1992. However, he does not focus solely on classical music, but has developed his own style by incorporating elements of jazz and folklore into his interpretations. (Press release)
