It's been almost ten years since an unmistakably charming voice fell silent at a much too young age. Roger Cicero... the juggler between jazz, blues, and pop has long deserved a tribute…. It took ten years, but now the time is ripe... says Shlomit Butbul. She herself grew up in her family's jazz club and developed this program out of love for its unique arrangements, interpretations, and idiosyncratic sound.

Jazz - for me, means childhood, heart, and freedom. Bebop jazz, which was always unconventional, has always touched me the most... it has become a staple of my attitude to life... and of course the big band sound, which the audience feels lightly in their hearts and warmly in their bodies. It's about love that works and that doesn't – about life and love, it's both dream and reality.

Roger Cicero – his humble, warm, charming truthfulness is very close to me. An artist who touches, can touch, and wanted to touch... as I want to too. Music should always be real and authentic. I sensed that in Roger when I invited him to perform at my jazz club in Luxembourg.

Unfortunately, he passed away exactly ten years ago – and I want to honor him, pay homage to his creativity – honor my origins – and give space. And perhaps (again) recommend a great artist to many people.
