The 16-piece orchestra presents music from the album ‘Breathe’, released in 2024, as well as brand new pieces from the pen of Peter Lenz. The diverse and dazzling compositions move in the border area of genres and thus avoid any stylistic pigeonholing.
Violeta Lenz accompanies the concerts as a video artist, creating live visuals, projections to the music that are created in the moment and create a unique visual dimension.
Big band, as the orchestral form of jazz, has a long tradition. Dazzling representatives such as Duke Ellington, Woody Herman, Count Basie and many, many more have cemented big band as a stylistic form rather than a line-up in jazz history through their compositions. Peter Lenz tries to loosen this cement a little with his way of using large ensembles. (Press release)
Mr. Lenz's large ensemble compositions transcend the stylistic trappings often found in tradi- tional big bands. Peter's writing focuses on the essence of each song, the journey of each piece, and the inherent and natural sound of the band, which allows the music to be performed as well as listened to in the most effortless way.
