Der große Bassist und Komponist Charles Mingus wurde am 22. April 1922 geboren, also vor genau 100 Jahren. Gregor Aufmesser und Clemens Salesny haben aus diesem Grunde ein äußerst spannendes Projekt konzipiert, das im 1. Set ein Ensemble präsentiert, das unter dem Titel "Triumph of the Underdog" – einem Dokumentationsfilm aus den späten 1990er Jahren, der sich an die Autobiographie von Mingus anlehnt – und Kompositionen aus den unterschiedlichsten Schaffensperioden des Meisters zu Gehör bringt.
