Jon’s SOULUBA program is a musical journey rooted in a sound of the tuba and voice. The music is lends from a range of stylistic vocabularies which flavor the music with Jazz, Funk and Rock elements but is still personable and definitely original. Souluba is about NOW & SERIOUS FUN! Groove-master Jon Sass is uniquely versatile and is known as " Der Tausendsassa der Tuba." His imitable approach and soulful sound on the tuba has given him a truly unique solo career, being one of the few tubists in the world who create their own music and performance concepts.

The current SOULUBA program mirrors the sound-seeds planted from recent generations of singers and musicians in Jon’s family as well as having have grown up in Harlem, New York City. “I have always felt a need to work together with singers “……..says Jon.

His playing will be accompanied by Jonny Sass, his son, genial partner, singer ,bass player and composer. Jonny wrote and performed songs on the latest album of Austrian electronic/rock band sofa surfers, entitled superluminal, which also won the Austrian Amadeus award for best alternative record in 2013.
