20 Jahre Blue Bird
It's hard to believe that two decades have already passed since the birth of the Blue Bird Festival: in November 2004, the small group of organizers from which the Vienna Songwriting Association was to emerge organized a concert evening at Porgy & Bess for the first time. Back then, it was a tribute to the English songwriter Nick Drake, who died young, and the performers presented tributes in the form of covers of Drake songs. The following year, the festival was expanded to three days, giving birth to the Blue Bird. Over the next few years, the crème de la crème of artists from this musical corner were to play on these three days at the end of November - from Edwyn Collins to Amanda Palmer, from Patrick Wolf to Adam Green, from Porridge Radio to The Magnetic Fields, from Owen Pallett to Alice Phoebe Lou, Coeur de Pirate, Garish, Ariel Pink, Giant Sand, Gustav, Clara Luzia and many more.
In its anniversary year, the Blue Bird Festival once again invites a fine selection of songwriters, musicians and bands to Vienna's Porgy & Bess. This year, for the first time, it will also be possible to reserve seats in advance, but only by purchasing tickets directly from Porgy & Bess.
