András Dés' Dollhouse Quartet
Flora Geißelbrecht: voice, viola
Carles Muñoz Camarero: cello, nyckelharpa
Márton Fenyvesi : guitar
András Dés: objets trouvés
András Dés wanted to create something intimate and quiet: a space of connection in an increasingly noisy and overwhelming world. Dollhouse Quartet grew out of this desire. At its heart is a simple invitation to the audience to bring objects for András to play — old household things, forgotten objects, discarded decorations, or anything they feel might find a new life as a musical instrument. As the percussionist of the quartet, he plays exclusively on these audience-provided objects.
When people hand over their objects, they can also share the stories, memories, or associations connected to them. The objects, and the people who bring them, become part of the musical process. The quartet’s program is mainly built around tunes, creating an intimate, chamber-like atmosphere.
The name Dollhouse Quartet reflects the intimacy and playfulness of the project: a miniature alternative reality where ordinary objects acquire new meanings, familiar rules can be rearranged, and the boundary between musicians and audience becomes less distinct. For a couple of hours, the concert becomes a small, intimate and unpredictable musical dollhouse, open to anything.
