35 years on stage—and still going strong: In February 2027, Valérie Sajdik will celebrate her stage anniversary with a very special concert at Vienna’s Porgy & Bess, a venue where jazz, pop, and chanson have never been particularly concerned with genre labels anyway.
The evening takes the audience on a journey through the diverse musical worlds of an extraordinarily versatile career: there are the German-language songs from her solo albums, released under the name Valerie, which—despite polarizing opinions and difficulties in categorizing them (Schlager? Chanson? Pop? Satire?)—made it into the Austrian charts in the 2000s. Then, of course, there’s Saint Privat—that wonderfully idiosyncratic blend of French chanson, bossa nova, jazz, and pop—with which Valerie Sajdik has found an audience far beyond Austria’s borders. And there’s the music she’s created over the past ten years in her adopted home of France, which draws heavily on jazz. Valerie also offers glimpses into her early days—whether on the disco stage, in various jazz clubs, or later as part of the girl group “C-bra.”

This evening is not intended to be a chronological retrospective of her work, but rather a very personal “best of”: favorite songs, rediscoveries, and pieces that have accompanied Valerie Sajdik and her audience over many years—rearranged, reinterpreted, and brought to the stage together with musicians with whom she shares a long musical history.
Spanning Viennese pop, chanson, jazz, and French savoir-vivre, a common thread runs through 35 years: the joy of storytelling, of strong melodies, of subtle nuances—and of the playful interplay between languages, styles, and musical worlds.

And because an anniversary isn’t just an occasion to look back, Valérie Sajdik will also offer a first glimpse of new material this evening—and with it, a preview of the next chapter.
