These four musicians—who often perform with singer Tini Kainrath—are united by their long-standing friendship and collaboration with Karl Hodina, who passed away in 2017; each of them had their own experiences with Karl!
Karl Hodina was a Viennese musician and painter; he loved jazz and was the first Viennese songwriter to bring the blues into the Viennese song! Joschi dedicated a composition to his friend Karl Hodina; when he asked Karl if he could think of a title for it, Karl replied, “Just call it Seavas Koarl.” “Geborgene Schätze” was the last recording Karl made. This CD is dedicated to the treasures and sources of joy that we—now—must set out to find. So let’s find them now with our new group! (Peter Havlicek)
