Through this Austria-wide composition competition, onQ, the Cultural Department of the State of Tyrol, the Tyrolean State Conservatory, and Porgy & Bess are initiating the creation of a new large-scale work for ensemble. The goal is to promote contemporary compositions at the intersection of jazz, improvisation, and new music, and to provide a sustainable platform for a new artistic voice.
Following the world premiere of the new work on March 3, 2027, at the Haus der Musik in Innsbruck, the onQ ensemble will present the Viennese premiere at Porgy & Bess.
The work will be performed by a ten-member ensemble drawn from onQ’s pool of musicians. The lineup will be assembled specifically for this project and tailored to the requirements of the newly created composition.
With this concert, onQ continues its longstanding engagement with new Austrian music and presents the Vienna premiere of the award-winning work.
