For many years now, saxophonist and flutist Heinrich von Kalnein has also called Argentina home. There, he regularly collaborates with Andrés Hayes, one of Buenos Aires’ leading saxophonists. Andy, who studied with the legendary American saxophonist George Garzone, among others, leads his own projects there, occasionally plays with singer and pianist Fito Páez—one of the biggest stars of Argentine rock—and has also recorded with pianist David Helbock, who is no stranger to audiences here. Together with Heinrich, he performs in several ensembles, including the Quarteto Argentino alongside Austria’s grande dame of the bass, Gina Schwarz, and the American drummer Chris Parker, who is now based in Vienna after completing his master’s degree at the KUG in Graz.
