Amidou Koita & Jorossin
Afro modern: rousing West African rhythms meet funk and salsa groove! The songs of Amidou Koita from Burkina Faso tell stories of family, community, and solidarity. He conveys his messages with his international band Jorossin – meaning future – in a forward-looking soundscape. West African rhythms merge with modern music styles such as Afrobeat, reggae, jazz, funk, and salsa groove. The result is an energetic program with powerful performances. Look forward to a musical highlight to celebrate and dance together!

Becky Bass is a renowned singer, steel drum player, and actress from Providence, Rhode Island. She comes from a family of musicians from the beautiful Caribbean island of St. Croix (US Virgin Islands). Her father, Bill Bass, himself one of the best steel drum players in the Virgin Islands, introduced his daughter to playing this instrument at the age of 2. Becky's love of music was cemented by 10 years of classical piano lessons, vocal training, and numerous performances in musical theater. The two-time winner of the New England Urban Music Award performs her Caribbean soul music both as a soloist and with various band formations. At the Sababu Festival, she will be accompanied by a trio.
