The Armenia focus “Narrated Homeland – Played Longing” combines literature and music in an impressive dialogue. Renowned actor and storyteller Wolfram Berger meets the Masis Duo with Anna Hakobyan (violin) and Karen Asatrian (piano). Together they create an evening that brings Armenian culture, memory, and identity to life in a sensory experience.
Wolfram Berger, one of the most distinctive voices in the German-speaking world, opens up his literary cosmos with poetic, humorous, and melancholic texts. The Duo Masis, which has been performing internationally for over 20 years, combines classical virtuosity with jazz, their own compositions, and Armenian folk music. The name “Masis”—the Armenian name for Mount Ararat—symbolizes origin and longing.
The interplay of language and music creates an atmospherically dense concert experience that builds cultural bridges and conveys Armenian life and emotions in a contemporary way. The project sees itself as an artistic plea for cultural diversity, remembrance culture, and interdisciplinary exchange.
