Bass.Bass.Bass - nine double basses. This unconventional formation promises a musical experience beyond the usual listening habits - low interval limits welcome! All instrumentalists contribute their own personality and sound aesthetics, while each individual voice simultaneously subordinates itself to the collective and enriches it.
This ambitious project, supported by a composition grant from the City of Vienna, consciously explores musical boundaries and breaks with common listening habits. The nine bass players use their freedom to explore new sound structures and extended playing techniques and to further develop improvisational concepts.
A meeting of these simultaneously different and scene-defining double bassists enables a unique collective musical experience of narcotic ecstasy, deep dark heaviness and brightly shining intensity. Composition and improvisation merge into a delicately bubbling and deeply rumbling sound alloy that awaits hungry ears like fresh salad. (Andreas Waelti)
