With a new concert series in the Strenge Kammer at Porgy & Bess, onQ is spotlighting the composers who were commissioned through the current composition call to write large-scale works for the onQ Ensemble. These works will receive their world premieres on March 4, 2027, at Porgy & Bess.

The series is conceived as a kind of workshop concert, offering composers the opportunity—in the run-up to the premieres—to test musical ideas with a small ensemble, develop new approaches, and get to know the ensemble’s musicians. The focus is on the creative process, artistic exchange, and the interplay between composition and improvisation. This gives the audience a direct insight into the creation of new music.

The series kicks off on December 10, 2026, with a performance by trombonist and composer Daniel Holzleitner.
