Sonnensittich brings together experimental, historical, and contemporary short films with live music. The program explores new ways of combining image, sound, rhythm, and structure—beyond the bounds of traditional film music.
The focus is on experimental forms of interaction between moving images and music, exemplified by Hans Richter’s abstract film *Rhythmus 21* (1921), which does without narration and opens up countless possibilities for musical interpretation.
The approximately 60-minute program was created in collaboration with film curator Thomas Renoldner (BAAF Best Austrian Animation Festival).
