21:00 Arthur Blythe Quartet (USA)

Arthur Blythe is not only a physical reincarnation of Cannonball Adderley; he also recalls the great saxophonist's soulful alto sound. However, Blythe stepped out from the shadow of his precursor a long time ago, in part by frequenting the "free-playing school" (including work with AACM musicians Horace Tapscott a.o. and Black Artist Group members such as Julius Hemphill and Oliver Lake).

Of special note are his trio recordings with tubist Bob Stewart, who he met through his work with Gil Evans, and with the percussionist Arto Tuncboyacian. Arthur Blythe is arriving at P&B with a newly formed quartet and a new CD. CH
