Multi-instrumentalist Marty Ehrlich, who appeared at Porgy together with Stan Strickland in 1994, is making a return visit, this time with his Dark Wood Ensemble, which explores the chamber music side of his compositorial work. Teaming up with Friedlander and Helias, Ehrlich has created a trio which has chosen to focus on lyrical compositions that leave ample room between the notes, rather than on extroverted Powerplay. CH
