21:00 Unstolen Moments Löschel/Skrepek jr./Zrost While You Wait

Any attempt to force the music of Hannes Löschel, Paul Skrepek and Martin Zrost into set schemas or to pin it down stylistically is certain to be inconclusive - what they present us is too diverse and complex. Instead, it rather challenges us to stop and open our ears for a moment and to succumb to the kaleidoscopic playing -- which is always changing and always taking new and sometimes surprising forms. Martin Kratochwil

Succumbing, kaleidoscope ears (which you have opened for a moment), listen to this: The music of this trio counts among the freshest, most exciting and most beautiful products that our worker/farmer/householder country has to offer the world in terms of acoustic cultural achievement. They owe their stature in world history to the fact that they did not reject the most highly-valued attributes of these bourgeois times (i.e to master one instrument or more; to know how to read music, to have a feel for beautiful sound, steering clear of kitsch, and a fine sense of irony). On the contrary, they appropriated and processed (W. I. Lenin, Selected Works, Vol.5) much of what has proven valuable in the 2,000-year-plus development of human thought and culture (i.e. Free Jazz, Improvisational Music, New Music, Sampler and Kaleidoscope). But watch out! You should not allow the conciseness and composure -- the severity -- with which these musical miniatures unfold before your newly- opened and welcoming kaleidoscope ears... to blind you (deafen you) to the many other facets of their acoustic puzzle-play.

Imagine stumbling into this "valuable achievement" of the (pre)bourgeois age: You've wandered into one of the intricate and severely geometric labyrinth systems of a French baroque garden. Behind every bush you hear seemingly intimate voices. At every turn you feel you've already passed that place before. Ever since entering they've counted you among the "missing". What do you do? You watch your step and, especially in the case of such titles as Clips & Tips -- you make sure to mind your "p"s and "t"s. KP
