21:00 TON.ART Unter Kuratel III

Artificial Snow from Yesterday (Kunstschnee von gestern) - For Nights When Spirits Walk (Rauhnachtsoratorium), an Oratorio for, with, by and against TON.ART This première will wind up the fall semester of independent studies undertaken by TON.ART under the name Unter Kuratel. Composers Aichinger und Koelbl took on the rather thankless task of reanimating some older TON.ART pieces by injecting them with new compositorial plasma. To boost the effectiveness of this third course of therapy, chief baritone Martin H. W. Thoma assumes the role of a singing Evangelist, the likes of which has never before been seen in a TON.ART session. Twisting and wrenching phrases and thoughts, he takes nearly recognizable passages from Stangl, Steiner und Peham and pulverizes or remixes them. The tonic thus produced contains elements of Askin, Barth, Bilek, Famler, Holl, Horwath, Hrachovec, Hurch, Koglmann, Kramar, Lamprecht, Mießgang, Nüchtern, Poidinger, Rygalyk, Scheib, Smekal and Tosic, among others. "We were used to speaking a sort of psychoanalytic gibberish and at the same time reading aloud random passages from random masterpieces of world literature ... the sanctity of the senseless is the true counterfoil of bougeois sensibility, of this libretto-machine with all of its security features and exchangeable moral discs ... We promote the mass production of spirit and artistry ... Poetry made to measure ..." (Raoul Hausmann). Klaus Peham
