21:00 Guus Janssen Trio (Amsterdam)
Guus Janssen: piano
Ernst Glerum: bass
Wim Janssen: drums
Integrating composition and improvisation in an unique way, this Dutch trio has appeared at many European festivals. Out of dazzling
whirl of seemingly loose ends, they make witty and passionate music. As a pianist, Janssen has performed with John Zorn, George
Lewis, Han Bennink, Maarten Altena and the ASKO ensemble. His wide-ranging compositions include music for solo performers,
string quartets (interprated by a.o. the Kronos Quartet, Mondriaan Quartet...), and symphonies. Janssen`s recent work includes:
"Klotz", commissioned and performed by Gidon Kremer, with the composer as soloist on hi-hat, "Zoek" for stringorchestra, piccolo and
harpsicord, "Passevite" commissioned by the WDR for the 20th Anniversary of the Schönberg Ensemble, and his opera "Noach",
which aroused wild acclaim in Amsterdam. CH
