"My music is a lifelong transformation of impulse, imagination and longing into patterns of energy - it is emotional with many strong
colours. It has to speak and move, dance in vital, physical motion - but it also has to quest in the mystical, the supernatural and
subterranean, rest in beauty and calm, play with the myriad facets of life, and then to be metamorphosed by the listener again into
a personal experience of wholeness." (Marilyn Mazur)
Marilyn Mazur -- the drummer, percussionist, composer, singer, dancer, etc., born in NYC but a long-time resident of Denmark -- was
squired into the international jazz scene by Miles Davis, no less, with whom she toured in 1985. In addition to engagements with
Gil Evans, Wayne Shorter and Jan Garbarek, she has formed her own group, Future Song, which she uses as an experimental lab for
her creative energies.
The name of her current group, Saxdance, can be taken literally! CH
