The basement of Riemergasse 11, where Porgy & Bess is today,
has been probably used as a place and stage for various art per-
formances since the mid 19th century:
Variete and Theater
Jazz
Cinema

Debates and arguments about the cultural activities at Riemergasse 11 have continued from the 16th cent. Until the 1990ties.

A five story high – new building – replaced the older one in 1911.
The original house – formerly Riemerstraße 812 – has been mentioned
since the 15th cent.
